Samvardhana Motherson Reflectec (SMR), a global leader in automotive mirror systems, is deeply committed to sustainability and innovation. However, their UK site lacked the necessary EV charging infrastructure to support staff and visitors making the switch from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs).
With many employees and guests travelling long distances, the absence of on-site charging created a barrier to EV adoption and limited the company’s ability to support its corporate sustainability goals. SMR needed a robust, scalable, and future-proof solution that would enable reliable workplace and visitor charging while maintaining operational efficiency.
Solution
Swift Charging was chosen to design, supply, and install a complete turnkey EV charging system. The project included:
4x Rolec BasicCharger 22kW Dual units, providing 8 total sockets for staff and visitors.
End-to-end project management, covering design, planning, and execution.
Groundworks and electrical infrastructure, including trenching, ducting, and cable runs.
Installation of wheel stops for charger protection.
Integration with Swift’s smart back-office platform, enabling:
Custom tariff setup for staff and guest charging.
Intelligent load management to balance site power.
Monthly energy reporting and analytics for sustainability tracking.
